5 months

Lucas and Jacob are 5 months old today! Wow, they are growing so fast!
So what's new. Well, they are both laughing out loud. They are interacting more and more with each other, smiling and touching one another. They are strong enough to sit in the exercauser, we just brought it down from the attic a couple of weeks ago. And yesterday we bought a new fun toy, a jumperoo. They can sit really well in it but can't reach the floor with their feet so we have to put a pillow under them. For those who don't know what a jumperoo is it's a stationary toy they can sit in, it's attached to elastic bands so the baby can make it bounce up and down. The bouncing also activates music and lights. I think Jacob has figured out how it works but I'm not sure about Lucas, Jacob has been in it twice and Lucas just once so far. Here's Jacob in the jumperoo.

The other day I also bought these portable high chairs from a fellow mother of multiples. I got both cheap and they are great because they recline so they can sit in them now even though they can't sit without support. They are also easy to take along and strap to any regular chair. Here's Lucas in his chair.

Here's some more pictures of our handsome little guys!

Fun with friends

Today we went to our friends, Jenny and Jeremy's, house for barbecue and backyard fun. As we got there the sky started to get dark and soon there was lightening on the horizon. The kids got to spend a short time on the inflatable waterslide that Caden got for his birthday before the "party" had to move inside. The kids were running wild inside until after dinner when we decided to turn on a movie. The children had a hard time deciding what movie to watch but they finally decided on Santa We had not seen them in a long time so we had a good time catching up.
This is the second time in a row we visit them and get rained on. The last time Jenny had planned this fun "scavanger hunt" with a video camera but it literally poured down and we had to stay inside. So next time we'll just plan on doing something indoors from the beginning ;).

This afternoon we picked up Michael at the airport and on our way home we stopped at the Childrens Place to check out their sale. We found some great deals! We bought fall clothes for the boys - sweaters, shirts, vests, pants and pajamas at $1.99 each. And the girls got new tops. We left the store with 4 bags of clothes and shoes!
When we came home we cleaned out Lily's closet, she had so many things in there that she has outgrown. Now we have a big bag of clothes to give to our friends little girls. For once Lily was okay with getting rid of some things, she's such a packrat. I'm trying to convince her that we need to give her tricycle to our friends too but oh no....she's saving it for when we have twin girls!!! I've told her that is very unlikely to, and she says please, please! Cute!

Before the boys were born I said I would not be one of those moms who dress their twins the same. Now I'm finding myself dressing them alike more and more and today I bought two of everything we got. If they're not dressed the same they are at least matching. I totally changed my mind about that. It's fun to dress them alike and it's cute! It will probably be different as they get older but for now I'm enjoying dressing them up.

Growing brains

This conversation took place between Maddie and I earlier this evening.

Me: Where is Lily?
M: She's in her room, reading a book.
Me: Oh

M: Mommy, does reading make you grow?
Me: helps your brain grow.
M: Not your body?
Me: No
M: Oh

She then goes into her room and comes back with a book!

I'm so proud of my little readers. I find Lily reading by herself quite often nowadays and she's not even in Kindergarten! She reads just as well as Maddie and Maddie is well above 1st grade expectations. They are both such good readers!

Summer camp and fighting

I'm really no good at this blogging thing, lol. I will try to post more often, no promises though.
So summer is here and the girls are on school break. It's too darn hot here in Texas to do much of anything so we stay home most of the time. This week the girls are doing camp three days and they are very excited about that. It's an art/play camp at a local bounce house place. Yesterday they bounced, painted on canvas, ate pizza, watched a movie and played. They were pretty tired last night and ended up fighting about who would get to brush their teeth first. I'm not sure exactly how it happened but Lily fell on her face on the bath
room floor and got a big fat lip and bruised gums. It was bleeding from her lip and around two of her upper front teeth but thankfully no broken or loose teeth. Hopefully the teeth will be fine. Maddie felt horrible about the incidence and spent the rest of the night trying to make it up to Lily. And Lily ended up sleeping on a mattress in Maddie's room like they do most nights on weekends and holidays.

Yesterday the boys and I had our first playgroup meeting with our friends from the mothers of multiples group. I had offered my house as a meeting place for our first meeting so they came here. Three moms, including me, and seven babies! One set of twin girls born two days before our boys and triplets, two boys and a girl, born a month before. It was so much fun! I had the advantage of meeting at my house and the boys were sleeping until
our guests arrived. Both boys were happy and behaving like little angels. Some of the other babies had not had a good nap and were tired and a couple had frustrations with the All in all I think they all did really good and they were so cute! Thanks for coming!
