Welcome 2012

We spent New years eve at home and after dinner the girls went to their friends Jolee and Vienna's house. We had made a chocolate pie for them to bring over and share. They stayed there until 11pm when I picked them up so they could ring in the new year with Michael and me at home. It was a nice and quiet night.

On New years day we went to Erwin park and Lily brough her friend Barb. We grilled hot dogs for lunch and then we went geocaching. Geocaching is a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices (in our case our iPhones) and then share their experiences online. It's a fun thing to do for the whole family.

Found a geocach.

Barb took this picture of us.

I really like the feeling of beginning a new year, it's a fresh start of things. I haven't made any new years resolutions per se but I did receive a book for Christmas called "The healthy home" and I'm excited about implementing some of the things they suggest in the book to make our environment at home a healthier one. Another thing we will be working on is getting financially independent and secure. We started this last year and I'm pretty proud to say that we have made significant progress in paying off debt as well as saving up some emergency cash. We still have a long way to go but we really worked hard at this last year and will continue what we've started.

We have lot's of big things to look forward to this year, the two biggest being Maddie starting middle school and the boys starting preschool in the fall. Big milestones!

Here's to hoping that 2012 will be a great year for all of us!
